A Doctor Who Understands

Nehal Shah born and raised in the area, she received her undergraduate degree from Austin College in Sherman and earned her medical degree from the Texas Tech University School of Medicine in Lubbock. She rounded out her education by earning an MBA in health organization management from Texas Tech University. Dr. Shah completed her residency in pediatric medicine at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. She is Board Certified through the American Board of Pediatrics, and is bilingual, speaking English and Spanish.

Prior to joining MacArthur, she practiced at Children’s Health Pediatric Group for 11 years and served another year in private practice elsewhere.

Her interest in the medical profession is fostered by a series of volunteer programs that she participated in during high school, which allowed her to work with children and their families. “These programs inspired me to cultivate a deeper interest in pediatrics and pursue a career in medicine,” she says.

She most enjoys counseling families on weight management, asthma, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and caring for pediatric illnesses and providing general well child care of children from birth to 18 year of age.

Dr. Shah enjoys working within such a culturally diverse community that makes up the Metroplex, and helping shape the lives of children.

When she’s not practicing, she loves to spend time with her husband and two boys, playing tennis, traveling, reading, and watching the Cowboys, of course!
